Kremlin confirms Putin will hold talks with Obama in US

The Russian president will also hold talks with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in New York
SEMIKARAKORSK /Rostov region/, September 24. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with his US counterpart Barack Obama and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Kremlin said on Thursday.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists talks with President Obama and Prime Minister Abe had been “agreed” and “added to the schedule”, noting that both meetings were expected to take place on the same day.

The spokesman also confirmed that Putin was planning to meet UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, while in New York.
The Russian leader will deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly on September 28.
Putin and Obama meet rarely amid differences over the Ukrainian crisis. Their last meeting took place in November 2014 when both presidents took part in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China. In the recent months, their contacts have been reduced to occasional telephone conversations.
